What we get called about

Four ways a Victoria gutter gives up

Almost every call we take is one of these, and all four come down to the same thing: something landed in the trough and the water found another way down.

Water spills over the front lip

Once the run is packed, rain stops going where it was meant to and pours off the leading edge instead — down the siding, past the window trim, and into the ground tight against the wall.

Fir and cedar mat into felt

Needles behave nothing like leaves. They knit together, soak up water and set into a dense wet mat that a hose runs straight over. It has to be lifted out by hand.

Garry oak acorns jam the elbow

Oak drops later than people expect, and it drops acorns. They roll along a perfectly clear gutter and stop dead at the first bend in the downspout, where nothing can be seen from the ground.

Moss takes root and stays

On a north-facing slope the moss does not blow in, it grows in. Left a season or two it holds water against the metal all winter and starts sending seedlings up out of the trough.

Why us

Why homeowners here keep our number

  • Victoria is our patch

We know which streets have side gaps too narrow for a ladder, and which trees are about to drop.

  • 10+ years on south Island rooflines

Long enough to know what one wet season under a Douglas fir does to a gutter.

  • The downspouts are half the job

A clear trough draining into a blocked pipe still floods. We follow the water to where it lets out.

  • Insured, WCB-registered, guaranteed

Locally owned, properly covered, and we stand behind the work once we have packed up.

More about us

How it works

From your call to a clear gutter

1

Send us the address

Ring (778) 562-8809, text a photo, or fill in the form. Tell us roughly what the water is doing.

2

We read the roofline

Storeys, length of run, what is growing over it and how we would get a ladder round the side. That is what sets the price.

3

We clear it and flush it

Runs cleared by hand, downspouts flushed and checked for flow at the bottom, and every bag of it leaves with us.

4

You hear what we saw

A hanger pulling loose, a seam starting to weep, a run holding water — you get told either way, with nothing attached.

Got questions?

Questions we get asked most

When is the best time to have gutters cleaned in Victoria?
Late autumn, once the Garry oak has finally let go — which is usually later than people expect, often well into November. If you have fir or cedar over the roof, add a second visit in late spring after the needle drop and the maple keys.
Our side gate is narrow. Can you still reach the back?
Usually, yes. Plenty of the older lots in James Bay, Fairfield and Fernwood have a gap too tight to walk a ladder through, so we plan the approach before we arrive. Mention it when you ask for the quote and it stops being a problem on the day.
Do you clear the downspouts too, or only the gutters?
Both, always. We flush each downspout through and check that water is actually coming out the bottom. Clearing the trough and leaving a blocked pipe underneath it just moves where the overflow lands.
Will you tell me if something needs fixing?
Yes, and there is no pressure attached to it. From the roof edge we can see things that are invisible from the lawn. You get told what we found so the decision is yours rather than a surprise in February.
Which areas do you cover?
We work across Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, Fairfield, Langford, Saanich, Uptown, Uplands, Fernwood, Rockland, James Bay and the streets around them. If you are just outside the list, ring and ask — it is usually still fine.
